How the rooms work together

The shared space fills the left side of the apartment. The bedroom occupies the upper right, and the bathroom sits below it. Both rooms open directly off the living area, so a guest can use the bathroom while the bedroom door stays closed.

From the entrance, you pass the dining area before reaching the sofa and kitchen. There is no separate corridor to furnish or walk through. Keep the route along the right side of the shared space open, especially when dining chairs are pulled out.

The tradeoff is the entry view. Opening the front door reveals the living area immediately. This arrangement suits you if you prefer an open arrival space. If you want a more private entrance, try a short screen beside the dining area while preserving the route to both interior doors.

Furniture and everyday use

A kitchen that leaves the center open

A 3,600 mm kitchen run lines the top wall. It holds the fridge, counters, sink, and stove. Keeping everything on one wall leaves the middle of the room free of an island and separates cooking from the dining table near the entrance.

The 1,400 by 800 mm table can serve meals or occasional laptop work. Before adding chairs, compare their pulled-out positions with the entrance route. If you need a permanent desk, try a smaller dining table and test a separate desk near the living room window.

A living area between the kitchen and dining table

The 2,200 by 900 mm sofa sits on the left side and faces the TV unit. This creates a distinct sitting area without adding a partition. The dining table stays closer to the entrance, so arriving guests do not have to pass between the sofa and TV to sit down.

A bedroom with storage opposite the bed

The bedroom contains a 1,600 by 2,000 mm bed and a 2,200 by 600 mm wardrobe. There is a 1,150 mm gap between the foot of the bed and the wardrobe. That gives you a useful place to compare wardrobe door options and the space your own bed frame needs.

The bedroom door opens near the wardrobe end of the room. Keep that corner clear when adding a dresser or bedside furniture. A window on the right wall leaves the top wall available for the head of the bed.

A bathroom reached from the shared space

The bathroom has a 1,000 by 1,000 mm shower in its upper right corner, with a toilet and basin along the bottom wall. Its 900 mm door opens from the living area. The bedroom doorway is also 900 mm wide, and the entrance is 1,000 mm wide.

The bathroom takes a generous share of the right side. If you would rather have more storage, test a smaller bathroom with a separate cupboard beside it. Keep its door accessible from the shared space so guests can still avoid the bedroom.

Who this one bedroom apartment layout suits

This layout is a useful starting point for one person or a couple who want a separate sleeping room and an open shared space. It favors a shower, a full wardrobe, and a dining table over a bathtub, a separate office, or a hallway.

If you regularly work from home, begin by testing a desk rather than squeezing it into the bedroom after everything else is placed. If you often host overnight guests, test a sofa bed in its open position and keep the route to the bathroom clear.

Adapt the plan to your apartment

Start with your entrance, windows, room dimensions, and anything that must stay in place. In floorplan.chat, you can describe the space or upload a reference image, review the proposed layout, and confirm it before drawing. Then revise it by chat or edit walls, doors, windows, and furniture directly.

Change one priority at a time. For more storage, ask for a smaller bathroom and an added cupboard. For a workspace, ask for a smaller dining table and a desk near the living room window. For a larger bed, give its full frame dimensions and keep the wardrobe in the brief.

Can I adapt this as a one bedroom flat floor plan with dimensions?

Yes. Start with your own perimeter, entrance, and windows. Keep the separate bedroom and bathroom access from the shared space, then adjust the furniture to suit your daily routine.

Where could I add a desk?

Try the living area near the left window. A smaller dining table could give you more room to arrange a separate workspace. Compare the desk and chair with the route from the entrance to the kitchen and bedroom.

“Design a one bedroom apartment of about 48 square meters. Include an open kitchen, a dining table, a sofa, a separate bedroom with a 1600 by 2000 mm bed and a wardrobe, and a shower bathroom reached from the living space. Put the entrance beside the dining area. Show room dimensions and furniture.”
